An exceptional web site with details unknown to many in the past. Ron should wear a beret on these parades as it keep the old computer warm on these November days, instead of marching bare headed!
Ron - Glad to hear your nut is covered for the main march...did you know that you are also eligible - owing to your sojourn in the 4th QOH - to attend the Cavalry parade in Hyde Park annually ? My late old friend from the North Irish Horse - Terry McGrath when he was President of our association - inveigled a number of us to attend one year when Her Majesty Queen Mum was still inspecting the troops.Don't know who does it now - probably Princess Anne. We had a great tiem followed by a late lunch at some nearby hotel before departing swearing eternal fidelity to our friendship. Terry died the following June of cancer a week after the annual conference in Harrogate without mentioning the fact that he was ill.He was in "C" squadron whereas Gerry was in "B". Great men !
I have recently been made new contact with another 4th Hussar man who said, amongst other things
"Why don't you come to Westminster Abbey at 10am on Thursday 9th November to The Queen's Royal Hussars plot. Thats the day every year the 8th army CMF celebrate. Every Regiments old Comrades show up,there"s sure to be someone you would like to meet "On Parade" if its only me, the Queen mostly visits, stands about 2feet away,as she walks past, has a chat, takes about an hour and half, for all I know you have been there before, I have been going for years, and know all of the 4th".
Ron - you should make it a date - and tell HM that you were put onto this by a member of her regiment the 16.5 Chancers - she might even ask you to tea - with Nita of course !

Don't worry Tom, it's only when the order "Hats off" comes as we march past the cenotaph.
Otherwise I've usually got something on my nut :)
