Additional information
Private Frank Beardmore, Border Regiment died on 31 March 1946 while still on active service (Service No D/37291). The cause of death was given as tuberculosis contracted through war service. At the time of his death, Frank was 52 years of age: relatively old for a serving soldier. He was laid to rest in Whitehaven Cemetery.
Frank was the son of John and Martha Jane Beardmore and the husband of Mary Jane Beardmore (nee Armstrong). Frank and Mary Jane had a large family of 12 children, born between 1920 and 1939. In WW2 the family home was at 89 George Street, Whitehaven. Mary Jane passed away on 16 December 1972, aged 74. Unusually for a CWGC headstone, Frank's widow, Mary Jane, is also commemorated on the the headstone.
May they rest in peace.
Frank Beardmore and Mary Jane Beardmore are my grandparents, thank you for posting this.
