The following 'Family Notice' announcing the death of Major Joseph Lawler Brown, CBE, TD, DL appeared in the British national daily newspaper, the 'Telegraph' on 25 May 2015:

JOSEPH LAWLER - (Joe), CBE, TD, DL ( County of the West Midlands), on 22nd May 2015 beloved husband late Mabel, SRN, SCM, dearly loved father of Pearson, Ann and son in law Andrew; much loved grandfather of Kathryn, David, Sarah, William, Anne-Sophie and great- grandfather of Jonah, Layla and Larah. 7/9th Royal Scots (Major). Former Chairman and Managing Director Birmingham Post and Mail; President the Newspaper Society (1976). Private cremation; ashes to be interred Peebles Cemetry.
