Ron -
I could not be more pleased to see that you have a great deal of pull with the authorities in the U.K. God bless you and Nita - apart from chewing up the Canadian Forests - I have now a mouthful of carpets from Frank's rebate of 24GBP - no matter how it is calculated - he can now buy at least three Mars Bars !Whereas I only had my cheque returned !
Despite the events that happened in London a few days beforehand it was a memorable event. I watched it on the TV. Did the BBC make a commemorative DVD or film of the 60th Anniversary events that perhaps I could buy?
There was a DVD made of the Cumbria Commemorations that they held at the end of June, which I bought. It was not quite on the same scale as the National Event you attended, Ron. However, I know that was a really memorable day.
It was really good seeing the National Event, and that for at least once in our lives, those of us born after the war did say 'Thank You' to all those of you who lived through the war years. It would be nice to have some film of some of the official National events of last year.
Despite looking out for Nita and your good self on the TV Ron, I couldn't make you out on The TV! However, I read your account of the event for "The People's War". A great day to remember, I'm sure.
