Private Robert Holmes of Keswick, Cumberland (now Cumbria) served in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps during the Second World War. He was the son of Mrs E. Holmes of Keswick.
Private Robert Holmes died on 6 October 1942 at the age of 38. He was laid to rest in St John's Churchyard, Keswick. The epitaph on his headstone reads as follows:
" A Lakeland climber
A devoted son
A kind brother
A faithful friend".
May he rest in peace!
